Hypnotherapy and Self-Esteem

Self-esteem is the way we describe our opinion of ourselves, how we think, the type of person we are, our abilities and what we expect for the future. When our self-esteem is high, we generally feel good about ourselves and have a positive outlook on life but it’s low, our thoughts and feelings about ourselves are usually negative, we focus on our weaknesses and are critical of what we do and the mistakes we’ve make.

Self-esteem can affect our entire outlook on life and in the long-term can affect our mental health. Issues with self-esteem can stem from childhood and continue into adulthood, can develop thorough unrealistic media messages or be triggered by traumatic life events such as abuse or serious illness. Low self-esteem can affect people in different ways but there here are some common signs to look out for. These include:

·      Thinking there’s nothing to look forward to

·      Feeling tired a lot of the time

·      Thinking negatively about yourself

·      Feeling like a failure
